  • Capturing the beauty of the original artwork

Every one of our prints is made using the Giclee printing process, for a museum-quality look and feel that does justice to the original art.

Giclee printing is the gold-standard for preserving the meticulous detail and stunning colors that we love in the Japanese masters. All our prints are fade and fingerprint resistant, so you can enjoy their beauty for years to come.

We chose to offer 12”x18” (30cm x 45cm) as this was closest to the “chuban” size sheets used for woodblock prints historically.

All of our prints come with matte finish for a more authentic appearance.

    Framing Options:

    • Unframed
    • Framed - black
    • Canvas wrap

    Ready-to-Hang and Made to Last

Mounting brackets are included and centered on our framed prints and canvas wraps.

All of our prints are made to last, with fade-resistant colors and materials. See how they arrive in the unboxing videos below.

  • About the Art

As snow flutters down upon Kiyomizu temple, it settles in thick powdery sheets. Two women shade themselves with umbrellas as they gaze over the balcony, admiring the city of Kyoto from the mountains.

This is a fine piece of ‘shin-hanga’, meaning “new prints”: modern ukiyo-e prints born out of a yearning for Japan’s traditional past. Hasui was captivated by the environment of Japan, mastering his use of colour and atmosphere in its breathtaking landscapes. In this piece, Hasui creates depth using shadows and perspective, setting a mood of gentle tranquility.

This scene is from the main stage of Kiyomizu temple, a balcony atop a wooden structure that sits within the mountain. The temple’s name translates as “Pure Water Temple”, named after the sacred waterfall that runs through it.

The temple was built in 708, without the use of any nails, but has been rebuilt many times due to devastating fires. In traditional Japanese architectural style, an overhanging balcony allows you to connect with nature and enjoy the crisp air.
