Katsushika Hokusai's Lake Suwa in Shinona Province is one of the artistic woodblock prints from his well-known series, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. This woodblock print comprises an amazing view of a tranquil lake that directs the eyes of the spectators towards the distant Mount Fuji covered with white snow. This print is so amazingly tinted with blue color which is called ''aizuri-e'' meaning blue picture.
Hokusai so subtly painted this woodblock print encompassing a massive area. In the isle, the identical pine trees are painted exquisitely with the thatched hut which creates an amazing view in the foreground of the scenario. A fisherman is navigating his small boat on the motionless and enormous lake expressing the magnanimity of the lake. Hokusai also painted Takashima Castle, which belonged to the Suwa daimyo, or feudal lord just in front of Fuji. The distant view of snow-covered Mount Fuji just behind the Takashima Castle in green tint contributes an enchanting sight.
The beautiful panoramic view of the lake Suwa is tinted so dazzlingly retaining large pine trees in the foreground, a small boat on the calm water, Takashima Castle at the left side on a peninsula, the Fuji on the horizon with a conspicuous composition with attractive color and detail.
