  • Capturing the beauty of the original artwork

Every one of our prints is made using the Giclee printing process, for a museum-quality look and feel that does justice to the original art.

Giclee printing is the gold-standard for preserving the meticulous detail and stunning colors that we love in the Japanese masters. All our prints are fade and fingerprint resistant, so you can enjoy their beauty for years to come.

We chose to offer 12”x18” (30cm x 45cm) as this was closest to the “chuban” size sheets used for woodblock prints historically.

All of our prints come with matte finish for a more authentic appearance.

    Framing Options:

    • Unframed
    • Framed - black
    • Canvas wrap

    Ready-to-Hang and Made to Last

Mounting brackets are included and centered on our framed prints and canvas wraps.

All of our prints are made to last, with fade-resistant colors and materials. See how they arrive in the unboxing videos below.

  • About the Art

As the sun sets behind the distant hills, a gong echoes from Kiyomizu temple, rousing the birds. Figures pass the cherry blossoms and climb the steep steps toward the sound.

Made during the last portion of his life, Hiroshige II’s depiction of the much loved Kiyomizu Temple comes from the series “Scenes of Famous Places along the Tôkaidô Road”. A series commissioned by the Tokugawa Shogunate during their final years of power. Hiroshige II’s exquisite use of colour here captures the atmosphere of Kiyomizu in the spring, with its lush gardens and blossoming trees.

Kiyomizu temple is named after the sacred waterfall it was built on, which translates as “Pure Water Temple” and sits in the leafy hills outside of Kyoto, overlooking the city. The temple was founded in 780, and is famed for being built without the use of a single nail. It features a large stage in the centre which offers panoramic views of Kyoto and the mountains.

The original waterfall still flows through the temple, but is split into three sacred streams: each believed to grant different wishes upon drinking from them.
