Every one of our prints is made using the Giclee printing process, for a museum-quality look and feel that does justice to the original art.
Giclee printing is the gold-standard for preserving the meticulous detail and stunning colors that we love in the Japanese masters. All our prints are fade and fingerprint resistant, so you can enjoy their beauty for years to come.
We chose to offer 12”x18” (30cm x 45cm) as this was closest to the “chuban” size sheets used for woodblock prints historically.
All of our prints come with matte finish for a more authentic appearance.

"Woman with fan" is a charming print taken from one of Chikanobu's finer series "Shin Bijin" or "True Beauty". It is number 12 in this bijin-ga series, featuring beautiful women in various poses and pursuits.
The detailed illustration of the cherry blossom tree on her kimono is truly sumptuous; a robe fitting for a woman of such elegant, true beauty.
Toyohara Chikanobu was one of the last few great masters of ukiyo-e printmaking, and worked during the period when Japan was in the process of rapidly adopting Western values, intending to replace their traditional Japanese customs in pursuit of progress. Chikanobu valued and honoured Japanese heritage in his prints, as his personal expression of a longing to preserve the essence of his nation in his art.
